Mystery Babylon Part II Print E-mail
Written by Victoria Radin

In Part I, I laid out a possible scenario in which the United States becomes unable to help Israel either in world opinion or militarily. As a result, Israel will no longer have an advocate at the U.N. nor a military partner against its sworn enemies. Israel’s only hope will be to cry out to G-d. Unlike the United States, G-d has promised that Israel will always be a nation before Him.

“Have you not considered what these people have spoken, saying, ‘The two families which the L-rd has chosen, He has also cast them off’? Thus they have despised My people, as if they should no more be a nation before them.’ Thus says the L-rd: ‘If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will cause their captives to return, and will have mercy on them.’” (Jeremiah 33:24-26)

While G-d has promised that Israel will stand forever, He has often subjected them to severe discipline, at times at the hands of cruel tyrants, such as Nebuchadnezzar, Hitler and Stalin. The scriptures confirm that before the Messiah’s appearance, Israel will go through a severe, dreadful discipline as never before. Just as the United States has become an apostate Christian nation, Israel, has become an apostate Jewish nation, filled with many leaders and people who no longer believe in G-d. Only a remnant is looking for their Messiah to come. Yet, the time is fast approaching for Yeshua to appear. Israel must be cleansed of its idolatry and wickedness in preparation for this event. This time of cleansing is called The Day of the L-rd.

The reasons for which the Bible lists as the cause for Israel’s coming chastisement are many (Deuteronomy 27:15-26 & 28:15-62). We can see the sins of the nation in some of the same areas as the United States: sexual sins, murder of the innocent, drug abuse, and corruption in politics.

  • The major city of Tel Aviv, Israel is known as the homosexual capital of the world. It’s one of the most liberal and gay-friendly cities not only in the Middle East but also in the entire world. Tel Aviv now has a majority of gay citizens.
  • Israel has up to 8,500 slaves, driven by the sex trade and the human trafficking that comes with it. There are 15,000 prostitutes in Israel, according to The Times of Israel, entering the profession at an average age of 14. Pornography and prostitution are both legal in Israel.
  • Israel’s abortion law is now among the world’s most liberal. The government approves free pregnancy termination for nearly all women, and it barely faces any opposition.
  • Israel has become a major hub in the International Cocaine Trade. In its annual report for 2012, the International Narcotics Control Board lists Brazil and Israel among the “countries that are major manufacturers, exporters, importers and users of narcotic drugs.” Close to one percent of all Israelis aged 18-40 indicated they had used cocaine.
  • The Times of Israel reports that a survey found that the perception of Israelis is that their political parties, religious institutions and civil servants are among the most corrupt entities in the country.

In the Day of the L-rd, the city of Jerusalem will be the great city, which is spiritually called Babylon. The Antichrist will place his throne in Jerusalem and seat himself in the Temple of G-d as G-d. Just as Constantinople became the new capital of the Roman Empire, Jerusalem will become the new capital city of the revived Roman Empire, described as the feet and toes of Daniel 2:33 and the beast of Daniel 7:7. G-d’s hand is against the city of Jerusalem, which is spiritually called a harlot [1],  Sodom [2], Egypt [3], Ariel [4], and [5] Babylon.

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. (Zechariah 12:2-3)

In chapters 17 and 18 of the Book of Revelation, an angel shows the apostle John the fate of the Great Whore [or harlot] and the destruction of the Great city, Mystery Babylon, from which the Antichrist will rule the 10-Kingdom World Empire [the beast on which the harlot sits]. G-d repeatedly used the term ‘harlot’ to describe one who had departed from the faith. Therefore, this city must have, at one time, been a faithful city. The city of Babylon was never a faithful city. Only Jerusalem could be referenced as such. Of Jerusalem, the prophet Isaiah said,

“How is the faithful city become an harlot…I will turn My hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross…[and] afterward thou shalt be called, the City of Righteousness, the faithful city.” (Isaiah 1:21a, 25a, 26b)

Because G-d chose Jerusalem as His dwelling place forever (Psalm 132:13-14), Satan is determined to have that city for himself.

“…and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called G-d or that is worshiped, so that he sits as G-d in the temple of G-d, showing himself that he is G-d.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3b, 4)

When the Antichrist sets up his throne in Jerusalem, then the rulers of the 10-Kingdom World Empire (the beast) will hate the Antichrist and his city, Jerusalem.

“And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For G-d has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose…” (Revelation 17:16-17a)

G-d will use the armies of the 10-Kingdoms to cleanse Jerusalem.

“Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations…Now then, O harlot, hear the word of the L-rd! … Because your filthiness was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your harlotry with your lovers, and with all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them… I will gather all your lovers with whom you took pleasure … I will gather them from all around against you… I will also give you into their hand…” (Ezekiel 1, 35-37, 39)

G-d decreed disaster from the north, which was a foreshadowing of the disaster that will come upon Jerusalem in the latter days because it has become the center of apostasy.

“For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished, for I will call for a sword [6] on all the inhabitants of the earth…”  (Jeremiah 25:29)

Ezekiel reveals that just as G-d has done in the past, He will use a foreign nation to discipline Israel, i.e. Gog and his company of nations.

“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the L-rd G-d: “On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it? Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.”  (Ezekiel 38:14-16)

G-d describes the destruction of Jerusalem by ‘the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel’ (Isaiah 29:7).

“Woe to Ariel, to Ariel [Jerusalem], the city where David dwelt!... I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, and it shall be to Me as [7] Ariel [an altar hearth]. I will encamp against you all around, … you shall be brought down…You will be punished by the L-rd of hosts with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with storm and tempest and the flame of devouring fire.” (Isaiah 29:1-4, 6)

The scriptures indicate that only a [8] tithe (10 %) will survive.

“I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the L-rd. (Ezekiel 20:37-38)

G-d promises that when Israel calls out and repents, He will answer quickly.

“But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me, and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt—then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land.” (Leviticus 26:40-42)

“Comfort, O comfort My people,” says your G-d. “Speak kindly to Jerusalem; and call out to her, that her warfare has ended, that her iniquity has been removed, that she has received of the L-rd’s hand double for all her sins.” (Isaiah 40:1-2)

G-d is calling on all His servants to pray that His purposes for Jerusalem will be manifest. Will you?

“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the L-rd, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Isaiah 62:6, 7)

[1]Isaiah 1:21, Jeremiah 3:1c,

[2]Spiritual fornication, Revelation 11:8

[3] A type of the world, Revelation 11:8

[4]  type of the Netherworld, an altar hearth, Isaiah 29:1-2, 7

[5] enter of apostate religions of the world

[6] This could not be speaking of Jeremiah's day because it speaks of "all the inhabitants of the earth".

[7] Ariel spelled slightly differently, but pronounced the same means an altar hearth, Strong's #741 & #2025.

[8] The tithe was selected by having the sheep 'pass under the rod'. Every 10th animal was set aside for the tithe.
