The Alliance Print
Written by Victoria Radin

“O G-d, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O G-d, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. ‘Come,’ they say, ‘let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.’ With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against You––”  (Psalm 83:1-5)

While the plots against Israel seem to come from a variety of sources, Satan himself is at the root of every evil, lying scheme. Each contrivance of the enemy has the same goal in mind––the destruction of Israel whether in the early days of Israel or today.

In the days of the Kings of Israel, Israel was divided into the Northern Kingdom (called Israel) and the Southern Kingdom (called Judah). The Northern Kingdom turned away from true worship in the Temple of G-d and followed after paganism.

When Ahab was the king of Israel, he decided that he needed an alliance with a neighboring nation for added protection against his enemies. So he made a treaty with its king by marrying his daughter, Jezebel. Ahab, under Jezebel's influence, built a pagan temple to Baal, and allowed idols into the Northern Kingdom. Baal was considered to be the god of the land. He owned it, they said.

Ahab wanted a specific plot of land that belonged to Naboth and his family (1 Kings 21). Naboth refused Ahab’s offers because the land was their inheritance from the L-rd. Therefore, Jezebel plotted to steal the land from Naboth for her husband. She plotted and schemed, paying witnesses to lie about Naboth. Finally, Naboth was executed and Ahab took the land he coveted, but the situation proved fatal to both Ahab and Jezebel in the end.

“Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.” Micah 2:1

G-d warned the Israelites that they were not to be joined to pagans by intermarriage or by treaty. Ahab did both and brought the eventual destruction against which Elijah warned. Today, the situation is no different. The Israelis continue to try to form alliances with other nations, believing that they will be safe and protected just as Ahab  thought when he made his alliance with Jezebel’s father, Ethbaal. Meanwhile, the nations of the earth continue to make alliances with each other against Israel for the specific plot of land that they want for their lovers, the Palestinians. No other land will suffice.

The so-called Palestinians covet the land given to Israel by an unconditional, eternal covenant with the L-rd. They lie and plot and scheme to take possession of it. But G-d will never allow the land to be given to any other.

Here are some of the current libelous attacks intended to foster hatred of Israel and eventually bring destruction to that nation:

  • The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) holds Israel responsible for the Palestinian refugees from the 1948 War of Independence when Israel was attacked by all the surrounding nations.
  • Israel has been accused of being responsible for the traces of uranium found at a Syrian site bombed by Israel the year before, suggesting that Israel used nuclear weapons. Contrarily, Israel bombed the site that was being prepared as a nuclear weapons facility by a joint Russian/Syrian project.
  • The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet's August 2009 story accusing the IDF of harvesting Palestinian organs caused an uproar among Arab nations. As a result, Egyptian authorities temporarily denied Israeli doctors entry into Egypt to participate in a medical conference, explaining that this was because they "participated in torture" of Palestinians and because they "are also guilty of stealing the organs of Palestinian prisoners."
  • The United Nations General Assembly recently took up a UN human rights report, known as the Goldstone report, accusing Israel of committing war crimes in their military offensive against Gaza, never addressing the real human rights violations of Hamas and their rocket attacks on Israel.
  • Recently, the Palestinians have threatened to declare their own State if Israel does not comply with their demands. As a further warning, a Swedish proposal was put forth to declare eastern Jerusalem the capital of a future Palestinian Authority State.
  • And, most blatantly, Iran’s leader has continually vowed to wipe Israel off the face of the map and continues this threat with the defiant development of nuclear weapons intended for that purpose.

Since it is G-d that has given Israel the land, it is with G-d that the Arabs and the Swedes, the UN and the EU have their complaint, not with Israel. In Genesis 17:17-21 G-d makes a covenant for the land of Israel with Abraham and his descendants. He then confirms this covenant nine chapters later with Isaac in Genesis 26:3; And again yet nine chapters later, G-d confirms the covenant of the land with Jacob in Genesis 35:9-12. There can be no question that G-d gave the land to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the progenitors of the inhabitants of the current Land of Israel.

No alliance against Israel will succeed, not even when all the nations are gathered against Jerusalem.

And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12:3)

“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them… the L-RD has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. (NKJ, Jer. 25:30-31)

G-d has declared that the people of Israel will be His agents to destroy G-d’s enemies. Satan, cannot prevent G-d from having the victory.

“In that day, I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples…the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David and the house of David shall be like G-d…It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem…” (Zechariah 12:6, 8, 9)

G-d’s victory has been declared from the beginning.

“I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; they have also divided up My land.”(NKJ Joel 3:2)

“Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together against the L-rd and against His Anointed, saying ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.’ He who sits in the heavens shall laugh….” (Psalm 1:1-4a)
